Among the longest lasting of all batteries, button batteries are commonly found in low charge portable devices.
One of the most popular uses of button batteries is as watch batteries. This is because of their small size and long life span. Other devices that use button batteries include:

Knowing the date is useful, as this ensures that you do not mix up old and new button batteries. The part of the code which shows what the battery is made up of includes:
- L - Manganese dioxide.
- S - Silver oxide.
- P - Oxygen.
- C - Manganese dioxide.
- B - Carbon monofluoride.
- G - Copper oxide.
It is important that button batteries are handled properly. Like all battery cells, this means that the casing should not be dented or damaged and that damaged batteries should never be used.
